Additional Features
Easy to Expand - Create a third level with the available add-on kit.
Easy to Clean - Removable plastic floor trays and shelf inserts wipe clean.
Easy to Access - Squeeze point latches are simple for humans, but impossible for ferrets, to open. Plus, each door is completely removable for convenient cleaning access. Simply open the door and lift straight up to remove. In addition, the ramps can be clipped to the shelf above to close off each level, which is great for separating ferrets, or during feeding and cleaning time.
Easy to Accessorize - The undersides of shelves have a series of loops to ease the attaching of toys, hammocks, and other accessories inside the cage.
Easy to Rearrange - Install two shelves next to each other to create another full level. Plus, each shelf can be installed in three different positions inside each home level.
Assembly Instructions
Although the Ferret Nation can be assembled by a single person, assembly will be easier with two people.
Tools needed: Phillips Head Screwdriver
Assemble the Support Stand:
Set the Supports with the cross bar near the bottom.
Attach the Stand Sides with bolts and washers, but do not tighten.
Make sure the multiple holes in each part face inward.
Slightly separate the Stand Sides and insert the Bottom Panel Grid, fitting the protruding ends into the holes of the Supports and the Side Supports. Be sure that the wires running front to back are on top.
When the ends are in the holes, pull the Stand Sides together to secure the fit.
Fit the remaining Support with cross bar against the remaining side of the Bottom Panel Grid, being sure to fit the protruding ends of the grid into the holes in the Supports.
Attach the Support to the Sides with bolts and washers. Do not fully tighten bolts at this time.
Locate 4 Connectors.
Attach them and the remaining 2 Stand Sides between the front and back posts of the Stand.
Fit a Connector in a corner post so the bottom hole of the Connector meets with the top hole of the Stand.
Feed a bolt with a washer through the corresponding holes.
Hold a Stand Side in place and screw the tube in place.
NOTE: The orientation of the holes on these 2 Stand Sides are not important, so for cosmetic consideration, you may choose to face the holes down.
Repeat on all 4 corners. Do not fully tighten bolts at this time.
Locate the 4 Casters.
Insert the post of each caster into the pre-inserted sleeve in the bottom of the Support. NOTE: Be sure that the 2 swivel casters are on one long side, and the 2 stationary casters are on the opposite side.
To fully secure the casters in the sleeves, push each caster in by hand or push down on the frame of the stand with your hand or foot. NOTE: The side with both locking casters will now become the "front" of the cage.
Assemble the Home:
Locate one of the Back Panels and insert it onto the connectors on the stand side with the two non-locking casters. Be sure the holes along the long tubes face inward.
Locate the Bottom Panel Grid and, with the wires running from front to back on the top, insert the protruding ends into the corresponding holes in the Back Panel.
Locate the Door Panel and begin to insert it onto the connectors on the front of the stand.
Tilt the Bottom Panel Grid up and insert the protruding ends into the corresponding holes of the Door Panel.
When they are in place, fully lower the Door Panel in place.
Locate the Middle Grid Panel and insert it between the Door and Back Panels. Make sure the wires running front to back are on top, which means the opening will either be in the back-right of the cage or in the front-left of the cage.
Locate one of the Back Panels and insert it onto the connectors. The Back Panel should be inserted on the side of the stand that has the two non-locking casters. Be sure the holes along the long tubes face inward.
Locate 2 Side Panels. Place them between the Door and Back Panels, making sure the protruding wires from the Bottom Panel Grid and Middle Panel Grid fit into the corresponding holes in the Side Panels. Be sure the Side Panel is oriented correctly by using the middle hole as a guide. When oriented correctly, the middle hole is slightly above the middle horizontal wire.
Locate 4 Connectors, 4 Bolts and 4 Washers, and attach the Connector to the cage as in Step 1-H, above. Do not fully tighten the bolts at this time.
Place the remaining Door Panel onto the Connectors on the front of the cage. Place the remaining Back Panel onto the connectors on the back of the cage.
Locate the Top Grid Panel and insert it between the Door and Back Panels. Make sure the wires running front to back are on top.
Locate 2 remaining Side Panels. Place them between the Door and Back Panels, making sure the protruding wires from the Top Panel Grid and Middle Panel Grid fit into the corresponding holes in the Side Panels. Be sure the Side Panels are oriented correctly, as in Step 2-H.
Locate 4 Bolts and 4 Washers, and secure the panels together.
Tighten all bolts in all locations.
Install the 4 Plastic Caps in the openings on the top of the cage.
Set up the Home:
Fully open the doors by pinching the knobs on the doors together.
Insert the Bottom Pan in the bottom unit, and the Middle Pan in the upper unit. Be sure the cut-out is positioned to match up with the opening in the Middle Panel Grid.
Locate one Shelf and with the doors open in the top unit, tilt the Shelf down and insert the end of the hook in the middle holes on the right side of the top unit. Lift the Shelf up and let hook fall into place. NOTE: The Shelves, in conjunction with the Side Panels, can be positioned at 3 different levels on either side of the cage.
Before inserting the Shelf in the bottom unit, install the Ramp that will allow your ferret to go from one level to the next. Attach the hooks on the end of the ramp to the back wire in the opening of the Middle Panel Grid. NOTE:
This ramp has the ability to be secured in the "up" position to section off the top level from the bottom level. Before inserting the Shelf in the bottom unit, swing this ramp up and hook it with the attached "S" hook.
Install Shelf in bottom unit as in Step 3-C.
Attach the remaining ladders on the shelves. Slightly tilt the shelf up and slip the hooks of the ladder onto the outermost wire on the shelf. To keep the shelf from moving from side to side, be sure the ladder hooks are placed in the openings as indicated.
Expanding the Ferret Nation with the Available Add-On:
The Top Panel from the assembled cage will be removed and used as the top to the add-on unit. The included Middle Grid Panel will be put in place of the existing Top Panel.
Remove the plastic Caps in the top of the cage.
Unscrew the top bolts in all 4 locations. Save the bolts and washers.
Slightly loosen the bottom screws. (These are the screws at the bottom on the same panel as the bolts that were removed.)
Slightly swing the Side Panels out enough to allow the protruding ends of the Top Grid to be exposed.
Gently pull the Door Panel and Back Panel outward to remove the Top Grid. Set the Top Grid aside for use later.
Insert the protruding ends of the included Middle Panel Grid in the corresponding holes of the Door Panel and Back Panel. Make sure the wires running front to back are on top, which means the opening will either be in the back-right of the cage, or in the front-left of the cage.
Swing the Side Panels back into place, making sure the protruding ends of the Middle Grid Panel fit into the corresponding holes.
Locate 4 Connectors. Fit a connector in a corner post so the bottom hole of the connector meets with the top hole of the Door Panel or Back Panel. Feed a bolt with a washer through the corresponding holes. Repeat on all 4 corners. Do not fully tighten bolts at this time.
Place the Door Panel onto the Connectors on the front of the cage (right above the other Door Panel). Place the remaining Back Panel onto the connectors on the back of the cage.
Locate the Top Grid Panel and insert it between the Door and Back Panels. Make sure the wires running front to back are on top.
Locate the 2 Side Panels.

Care Instructions
To maintain a healthy environment for both you and your pet, the entire cage and accessories should be thoroughly cleaned and the bedding changed once per week. Cage and cage accessories can be washed with warm water and a mild soap. Thoroughly rinse each washed item, however, to ensure all soap residue is removed. Then let the product air dry before returning it to your pet's environment.
Best pet husbandry includes the daily removal and replacement of heavily soiled bedding and litter, as well as the washing and replenishing of both your pet's food and water dishes.

I have three ferrets living in the Nation cage with add-on unit. I hesitated before buying this cage mostly because of the price, thinking I'd make do with a smaller one I had, but I'm glad now I went with it. The huge doors make taking litter boxes in and out easy, as well as meaning there's no struggling to reach corners to clean up the occasional mess (except on the top level, it's tall!). I have several other pets, so I look for anything that saves cleaning time. The cage is solid and nice looking, too, like a real piece of furniture. The only improvement I'd make is larger casters for easier rolling across rugs.
It also gives my ferrets lots of space. They sleep on a different level every nap.
This is a great cage. You have easy access with the doors that open up in front. The trays slide in and out easily for cleaning and you have plenty of room to hang items. My ferret seems very happy in his home and has plenty of room to play. Well worth the money whether you have one or several ferrets.
I think this is THE best ferret cage out there! It's easy to clean! There is the usual daily cleaning. Once a week I take all the trays and ramps outside and hose down. It has alot of space for my ferrets. I have all three units and have owned it for 4 years. Not one single problem with the cage! It is not easy to put together so have someone do it that is good at putting things together . What is also nice is you can buy the original section and add on to it. Seriously, this is a fantastic durable cage ! All ferrets deserve to live in a cage like this!
