Ideal for hard-working or competing horses with cartilage wear and tear
Reliable joint care supplements for all horses. Proper joint function is imperative to a horse's performance and mobility. These joint care supplements contain glucosamine, a main building block of cartilage, chondroitin sulfate to inhibit enzymes that degrade the joint, and manganese and Vitamin C, both of which are necessary for collagen synthesis. All of these ingredients work synergistically to help ensure maintenance of healthy joints. All Cosequin® products include a scoop. Cosequin® is the original glucosamine and chondroitin horse joint supplement. Powder is formulated for joint problems and especially recommended for horses that experience cartilage wear and tear due to heavy training and competition..
Cosequin® Optimized contains higher levels of active ingredients. This formula contains double the amount of glucosamine hydrochloride, at 14,400 mg, and 2,400 mg of chondroitin sulfate (per 2 scoops), as compared to the original Cosequin® Equine formula. Horses under high stress from intense activity may benefit from higher levels of glucosamine. Apple flavored powder.
Cosequin® Optimized with MSM has the same levels of active ingredients as Cosequin® Optimized but has the addition of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). MSM is an organic source of sulfur, a compound used by cartilage. Cosequin® Optimized with MSM for horses contains 10,000 mg MSM per 2 scoops. This supplement offers a convenient, cost-effective way to administer MSM along with the proven ingredients in Cosequin®. Apple flavored powder.
Suggested daily use: Cosequin®: 3 level scoops, Horses over 1,200 lbs: 4 level scoops. Cosequin® Optimized & Cosequin® Optimized with MSM: Per 600 lbs: 2 scoops daily for 2-4 weeks, then 1 scoop daily for long term administration.

Glucosamine HCI - In addition to being the main substrate for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid, the primary function of glucosamine is to stimulate the secretion of glycosaminoglycans in the articular cartilage.
Chondroitin Sulfate - In addition to being the major glycosaminoglycans found in cartilage, its primary function is to inhibit collagen-degrading enzymes, which contribute to cartilage breakdown.
Manganese - A necessary cofactor in the body for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans.
Ascorbate - It is a necessary cofactor in the body for collagen biosynthesis.
The synergistic effect of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate performing their primary functions concurrently, using manganese and ascorbate as cofactors, is what makes Equine Cosequin unique and the only product of its kind. This overall matrix enhancement will make Equine Cosequin more economical to use the longer an animal is on the product. A multiple-step purification process ensures maximum ingredient integrity.

Some horse joint conditions require a multi-pronged approach. Compare joint supplements with combinations of ingredients to determine what's right for your horse.
Many horse owners use joint supplementation on their active or performance horses. Joint supplements are also excellent for older horses. Many include ingredients such as glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and hyaluronic acid.
MSM contains sulfur in a form the body can readily use. Sulfur is necessary for the production of collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin, all of which are building blocks of cartilage.
