Feeder Setup
Mount away from house at first. Once birds become familiar with it, move it closer for better viewing. A pole can be used for mounting. We also recommend that you provide water and covered areas for your birds. To discourage squirrels, a baffle is recommended. Mounting hardware is not included.
Feeder Care
Natural Western Red Cedar will weather to a beautiful soft silver gray. However, untreated cedar wood is porous and may become discolored if left in damp or shaded areas. A 10% solution of household bleach in water will usually remove the stain.
Linseed oil is a safe and natural wood protectant that can be applied to cedar. Allow to dry before adding seed and returning to its backyard station.
The clear, plastic side panels can be removed for easy cleaning. Simply unscrew knob on top of feeder, slide up roof, and remove panels by sliding them up and out. Wash them in warm soapy water and rinse. NOTE: Never use an abrasive cleaner on clear plastics, as clarity will be destroyed.
