These solar glow bulbs make life-changing differences in captive reptiles. They increase appetite, activity, breeding, and color. UV lighting is necessary to maintain Vitamin D3 in a reptile's blood, which is essential for metabolizing calcium in their diet.
The Active UV Heat Bulbs project beneficial UVA and UVB one to six feet, not mere inches like other bulbs. They are also cost effective; they combine fluorescent and heat lamps in one bulb. Easy-to-use: simply screw into a standard socket. Floodlight bulbs, self-ballasted.

Flood lamps produce an area of diffused heat and light, including the UVB. These will be the lamps for most applications. The spot lamps produce an area of heat and light that is highly focused, including the UVB. These bulbs are used to pick out a basking spot from a longer distance away to heat and illuminate a single rock or branch.
Instructions for Use
Set up the UV Heat lamp to provide a thermal gradient within the terrarium or vivarium, allowing your reptile to find both hot and cool areas.
It is important to provide hiding areas and shade so that your reptiles can get away from the heat of the lamp for a cool-down period.
Reptiles and amphibians utilize exposure to UVB light to maintain Vitamin D3 in the blood. This vitamin is essential for metabolizing calcium in their diet. It is very important to ensure that your reptile or amphibian receive adequate supplements of calcium in their diet.
A secondary heat source, such as a T-Rex Cobra Heat Mat is recommended, particularly at night, when the UV Heat lamp is turned off. A secondary heat source may be necessary during the day depending upon the species and the temperature of the location where the vivarium is situated.
Effective Life of the Active UV Heat Lamp
These lamps are guaranteed for one year of normal daytime use, which approximates to 12 hours of use per day. The output of UVB is higher when the lamp is new.

I would recommend the Active UV Heat Bulbs to any reptile owner. My husband and I raise Bearded Dragons and this light has helped us so much! The Beardies were much more active once we got this light. The big thing for us though was the fact that it helped strengthen their colors without the hassle of getting them outside everyday (which we still recommend trying to do often). Besides, it is much more cost effective in the long run.
A reptile paludarium is an excellent way to replicate a natural environment, but how can you be sure you have everything you'll need for the habitat? Get a foolproof aquarium/terrarium kit with integrated filtration and lighting!
Veiled Chameleons are shy and solitary, they should only be handled for short amounts of time. When startled or threatened, they curl up into a tight fetal position and darken in color.
