Bed Cover Care Instructions
For best results, wash the cover using regular washing detergent.
Always use cold or lukewarm water.
Turn cover inside out to protect the no-stain finish.
Always equalize the load in your washer, especially if the cover is large. Sopping wet covers can become so heavy that they may unbalance your washer.
Tumble dry on low heat, or line dry (recommended for darker colors).
"Every dog should have a bed - for warmth, comfort, and the security of having a place of his or her own."
Dogs tend to select couches, chairs, or beds as a place to rest or sleep. They prefer the comfort and warmth these items of furniture offer compared to a hard floor. Dog beds provide the same comfort benefits and they keep pets off furniture - an important consideration for many pet owners who prefer to keep their furniture free from pet hair. A bed introduced at an early age, reinforced with consistent training, will keep your pet off your furniture for his or her entire life.
Where you place your dog's bed is entirely up to you and your dog. Just remember it is his or her resting-place so it's best not to place it in a high traffic area of your home. Many pet owners place their pet's bed in their cage or crate once he or she is house trained, while others prefer a location near where they spend much of their time so their companion is always nearby. We offer a wide selection of styles and color choices that enable you to choose a bed and changeable cover that complements your decor.

My Springer Spaniel is 12 years old and has arthritis. I could tell he was having trouble getting comfortable on his old bed. I bought the Deluxe Orthopedic Pad for him and now he sleeps like a baby. He loves it!
This is a well made bed. I have a Huskey/Samoyed mix that is about 63 pounds. He has not had a bed since he was young and destroyed it. He is now older and needed to be off the cold floor. I was concerned about the quality when I ordered this mat but when it arrived I was very impressed. The fabric part of the cover is very strong not just a peice of cotten and the mat is thick. I did have to put his old quilt on it to get him to sleep on it and he seems to like it. You can buy true to size. I bought the largest one and it is really to large for him. Lucky does not curl up , he stretches out full length when he sleeps so we thought better to be to large than to small but we could have gone down a size to his size for the breed. This is an excellent bed and I would highly recommend it.
We adopted an 8 yr old pug last November and found out shortly after that he has arthritis in his hind legs. We bought him the Deluxe Orthopedic Pad recently and about a week after we we got it there was a noticeable change in how quickly he could get up out of bed. He also started jumping on to furniture that he couldn't seem to get up on without assistance before. This is a great bed!
I have an 11 year old Rottweiler who would spend all day just laying in her crate but the only problem is she kicks most blankets/small beds out of the way and then has trouble getting up off the metal flooring. I bought her this orthopedic pad, and measured it to fit her crate and now she sleeps in her crate all day long without pain. Sometimes I'll even flip it over and she loves laying on either side. The cover is machine washable and very durable.
I ordered two of these beds, one for each of my 5 year old mutts. They love the beds, occasionally both of them will curl up together on one (that's 120 lbs of dog). Best of all, they no longer sneak up on the couch in the middle of the night! The cover is heavy duty, and (unlike the covers for my previous beds) are very easy to slip on and off the mats. I bought the waterproof covers, and they are holding up well. They protect the foam from getting to dirty and dog-smelly, too. I highly recommend these beds.
Buy an ortho bed even if your dog does not suffer from arthritis! If you never want to replace your dog's bed again and are sick of wasting money, then buy this one.
The word "pad" in the description does not do it justice-this is a great bed. It is nice and thick, not thin like a pad at all. These are the best dog beds.
Several years ago I had a large lab who developed severe arthritis when he aged. He was having trouble getting up from the floor and was no longer able to get up on the soft couch. So I figured it was time to get him an orthopedic bed. Well, I went through numerous so called ortho beds from bargain pet stores. Although he was a large dog, he was by no means "rough" on his bed. The first bed simply did not support his weight and flattened out. The second bed's canvas cover ripped from him stepping onto it from his nails. It was expensive but the foam was definitely low quality...it was thin and flat and did not return to its shape after use. The first time I washed the cover (which was very tedious to remove), the seam ripped in 6 areas.
I was beginning to think finding a good quality bed was going to be impossible. He was definitely uncomfortable sleeping, he always was waking up to adjust himself. He never got a good solid night's sleep. It pained me to see him that way.
I decided to give it one last try and buy another bed-this time from Drs. Foster & Smith. For just a bit more, I finally found the perfect bed for my beloved friend. The foam is high quality and super thick and the covers are durable and beautiful and washes like a dream (very easy on and off). These beds never lose their shape or thickness. It never smelled of doggy odor and in between washing the cover, I would just vacumn off loose dog hair.
My dog loved this bed so much I couldn't get him out of it! I had not seen him sleep that comfortably and peaceful in a long time. No more constant waking-it brought tears to my eyes. I wish he had this bed a lot sooner. He was able to get up with ease (unlike a "mushy" bed where it took a bit of a struggle to get in and out of). And, after a few weeks, I was able to reduce his Rimadyl dose to half of what he was taking daily!
He passed in 2007 but I am so glad his final years were comfortable and he could sleep peacefully. His old bed is still in perfect shape.
These beds function perfectly as a "regular" dog bed even if you do not have a need for an orthopedic bed. You will never have to worry about lumping and clumping like polyfill beds. It will last for years and you will not have to buy an ortho bed when your dog is older. These beds are especially great for large breed dogs.
I now own two retired racing greyhounds and these are the beds they use. They love them. When you have large dogs, it can be tricky to find a good bed that is not going to flatten over time and be able to withstand their weight and bigger nails. The 28X48 is plenty big enough for a greyhound to stretch out on.
Although neither dog has arthritis, I am truly a fan of these beds and are perfect as a "regular " bed too because they are thick, soft and durable and return to their original shape when they get off the bed. Somehow they made these beds very supporitve yet they are soft and comfortable.
I have laid on these beds while petting my dogs and they are comfortable! They will probably last forever.
The lambswool and fleece tops are very cozy and soft but very durable - and best of all they do not shed. They withstand the digging that one of my dogs does before he lays down. The covers come in beautiful designs and you can buy extras.
I highly recommend that you buy the vinyl liner (it is a soft vinyl and does not make any noise - your dog will not know it's there). It will keep your foam clean, stain-free, waterproof and like new (no need to ever worry about the foam). Plus, if you buy it with the bed, they put the liner on for you-the bed arrives with the liner and cover already on.
I am a 14 1/2 yr old Beagle who suffers from arthritis, incontinence, and has Cushings Disease. My mom just bought me the Deluxe Orthopedic Pad with the waterproof lining. I love this bed!! It is very comfortable and when I have an accident while sleeping, it is very easy for my mom to clean it. The zipper runs across the whole top and a little bit over the sides, making the cover very easy to slip on and off. I'm feeling much better lately. This bed has been a lifesaver for both of us!
These beds are the best!! I purchased two beds 5 years ago with the liners and they are still in great shape. The dogs LOVE them (cats, too). The covers have been washed too many times to count and still look great. I would definitely recommend purchasing the liner. I think the liners have extended the life of the beds. I'm purchasing a new bed/liner today for a new puppy coming soon:)
