Please click on "More Information" for flow chart.
The flow charts above show the relationship between head height (the height difference between the pump and the final height that the water is lifted) and Gallons Per Hour (GPH). To determine which pump model is recommended for your waterfall or fountain, find your desired head height in the left column and follow that gridline right to your desired GPH along the bottom. The curved line to the right of that intersection represents the recommended pump model.
The flow charts represent the water pump operating under ideal conditions, using the recommended sized tubing with no bends or elbows and operating in a free-flow manner. Situations that will reduce the output of a water pump below the above ratings include: using tubing with a smaller diameter than recommended, any bends or elbows in the return line, and placing any restrictions on the output side of the pump. These restrictions may be in the form of a filter and ball valves used to control the flow rate.
It is difficult to determine the effects that restrictions may have on the output of a water pump. Choose a pump model that offers a higher output than previously anticipated. By doing so and installing a ball valve on the outlet side of the pump, you will be able to not only control the water flow, but you will also be assured of having sufficient water flow once the unit is installed.
